About the Product …

This papier-mâché Christmas decoration is hand made by the skilled craftspeople of Kashmir, northern India , keeping alive a tradition from the region that dates back to the 15th century. The creation of the decoration is divided between the making of the object (sakhtsazi) and the painting of the surface (naqashi). The colours used in the design are obtained by grinding and soaking vegetable and mineral dyes which are then expertly hand painted onto the decoration.
